Looking for Support With ADHD or Autism? Occupational Therapy in Weston, FL Can Help Your Child Thrive

Raising a child with ADHD or autism can be filled with both incredible joy and overwhelming challenges. You may be watching your child struggle with things other kids seem to do naturally — from focusing in class to managing emotions, making friends, or simply getting through the day without a meltdown. As a parent, it’s hard not to feel helpless or unsure of what to do next.

At Full Circle Therapy, we specialize in pediatric occupational therapy in Weston, FL that supports children and teens with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing challenges, and other developmental needs. Our goal is to help your child gain confidence, build practical life skills, and reach their full potential — in a space where they’re celebrated for exactly who they are.

What Is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) focuses on helping children develop the skills they need to succeed in daily life — at home, in school, and in the community. This includes fine motor skills, sensory regulation, executive functioning, attention, social interaction, and self-care.

For children with ADHD or autism, OT can be a game-changer. Rather than trying to “fix” behaviors, we look at the whole child — their nervous system, environment, strengths, and challenges — and build customized strategies that help them function more smoothly and confidently in the world.

How Can Occupational Therapy Help a Child With ADHD?

Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) often struggle with:

  • Sustaining focus on tasks
  • Managing impulses or high energy levels
  • Organizing and following through on instructions
  • Regulating emotions and frustration
  • Handwriting or motor coordination difficulties
  • Time management and transitions

At Full Circle Therapy, our ADHD-informed approach helps children build executive functioning skills, improve attention and self-regulation, and develop strategies for daily routines, classroom success, and social situations.

We work one-on-one with your child and also collaborate with parents and teachers to ensure consistent support across environments.

What About Occupational Therapy for Autism?

Children and teens with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often experience challenges related to:

  • Sensory sensitivities (e.g., noise, texture, lights)
  • Emotional regulation and meltdowns
  • Transitions and unexpected changes
  • Social communication and interaction
  • Fine motor skills and self-care routines
  • Developing independence in daily activities

Our occupational therapists understand how neurodiverse brains work. We provide sensory-integrative therapy, play-based learning, and strengths-focused coaching that help your child feel more in control of their body, emotions, and environment — without pressure to "mask" or conform.

We meet your child where they are and celebrate their unique way of experiencing the world.

What Does a Typical OT Session Look Like?

Occupational therapy sessions are designed to be engaging, individualized, and fun. No two sessions look exactly alike, but they may include:

  • Sensory activities to help regulate the nervous system (e.g., swings, brushing, movement-based games)
  • Executive functioning tasks like puzzles, planning activities, or sequencing games
  • Fine motor skill development (e.g., handwriting, buttoning, cutting, tying shoes)
  • Emotional regulation tools (e.g., feelings charts, calming strategies, visual schedules)
  • Social skill building through role-play, storytelling, and collaborative tasks
  • Parent guidance to support consistency and progress at home

We use a play-based, child-led approach — so kids feel safe, empowered, and excited to learn new skills.

How Involved Are Parents in the Process?

You are your child’s greatest support — and we’re here to partner with you.

At Full Circle Therapy, we keep parents informed, involved, and encouraged every step of the way. This may include:

  • Regular check-ins to discuss your child’s progress
  • Home programs with easy-to-implement strategies and activities
  • Guidance on navigating school accommodations or IEP/504 plans
  • Support for understanding your child’s sensory or executive functioning profile

We want to equip you with tools and confidence to support your child in everyday life — not just during their sessions with us.

Do You Offer Social Skills Groups for Kids and Teens?

Yes! At Full Circle Therapy, we’re proud to offer Social Skills Groups in Weston, FL designed specifically for boys and girls who need extra support with communication, emotional regulation, and peer connection — especially those with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or social delays.

Our social skills groups are small, structured, and led by experienced therapists who create a safe, engaging environment for kids and teens to practice:

  • Reading social cues and body language
  • Taking turns in conversation
  • Managing frustration and impulse control
  • Navigating peer conflict or rejection
  • Building friendships and empathy
  • Expressing emotions appropriately
  • Gaining confidence in social settings

Each group is age-appropriate, with sessions for early elementary, pre-teens, and teens. We balance structured lessons, fun activities, and real-time social coaching, so kids can practice new skills in a way that feels natural and empowering.

We also provide parent updates and take-home tips to reinforce what your child is learning, so the progress continues beyond the group.

Whether your child struggles with making friends, managing emotions in group settings, or just needs a little help coming out of their shell, our social skills groups offer the perfect opportunity to grow and connect — while feeling supported every step of the way.
